Toasted Tomato Garlic Sauce

Thin slivers of fresh garlic toast in olive oil and infuse this basil and tomato sauce with deep, savory flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 3/4 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup Take Root Organics® Tomato Paste
  • 1 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp. granulated sugar
  • 2 cans (28 oz. each) Take Root Organics® Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Directions
  1. Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add beef, onion, garlic, oregano and salt and cook 6 to 8 minutes until beef is browned.
  2. Add tomatoes and 4 cups water; bring to a boil. Add pasta and simmer on medium heat about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Stir in basil and serve topped with Parmesan and more basil, if desired.
